New playground ready at WES
Students at Windham Elementary School will see some new faces walking the halls and new features around the school: a new playground.
Earlier this year, the school received a grant for $15,000 in enhancement funds through the Alabama First Class Pre-K program.
These funds paid for half of the playground, and the school's PTO helped raise the rest of the funds by selling popcorn, candy, cookie dough and more.
The equipment for the playground was delivered, in parts, throughout the end of the 2017-18 school year. The playground was assembled by July 26. The barrier, mulch and all final touches were completed on July 30.
During the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 6, WES students were the first to play on the playground since it was completely assembled.
